Move On, Folks, Nothing to See Here

E-mails missing. Documents sent to Congress redacted to the point of absurdity.

Just how stupid they think we are is evident by the latest things coming out of Washington.

And they are right. We are stupid. Not people who agree with what I write about these thieves, although we wallow in our own stupidity when we expect the House of Representatives to move articles of impeachment against this guy.

We are as stupid as they expected and depended on us to be. The news media people like David Gregory who Bush targeted early on in his administration during a news conference for having the audacity to address the French Prime Minister in French. How dare he show his edumucation in front of so many people!!! The same David Gregory who then danced at the Correspondent's Dinner like the little whore that he is, acting as buffoon for Karl Rove's arrogant in your face white man's rant.

We are as stupid as they counted on us to be. Everything that is being done during this administration had its prelude. It's like Hitler with Mein Kampf. If people had read the book they wouldn't have been shocked when he started killing Jews. He practically came out and said he was going to kill large numbers of Jews. And every household in the Third Reich had a copy of Mein Kampf so the excuse "We didn't know" doesn't really cut it.

Three consecutive administrations in a row prior to this one attacked other countries without any wholesale shock or complaint from the American people. A populace shamed by the loss to Viet Nam learned nothing from that loss as it cheered on Reagan (Grenada), Bush (Panama, Iraq), and Clinton (Yugoslavia hiding behind NATO).

Not only didn't the American people complain, the fucking Congress never complained!! They watched their war making powers taken away from them and sat on the sidelines, either out of loyalty to a party apparatus or because they were afraid the mood of the American people was in favor of what the president was doing and, well, who'd want to lose a gig like working in congress, right? I mean, have you seen how rich these fuckers become once they've been there awhile? It's almost like people come to their offices and leave money in shopping bags for them or people call them on the phone and tell them which IPOs to get in on or what stocks to short.

Sure wish my broker did that for me.

Yeah, the Bush administration had us figured out. They can go right on doing what they're doing. There are plenty of shills out there who will defend their shredding of the constitution and the destruction of checks and balances. Everyday Americans were bought off a couple of years ago with their big tax rebates so this little bastard and his crew can just do whatever the fuck they want. The rabble has been paid off. Because, that's all Bushies and their ilk know.

My ex wife and I received $800 from the gubmint. Other families received more. When I complained that this was a cheap way to try to trick the American people everyone around me asked "When is the last time the government gave you $800?"

Now, I couldn't answer that, but I knew that this money wasn't really given in good faith. There were strings attached, the strings that were part of a giant blindfold I was supposed to tie around my head and over my eyes so i wouldn't see the wheelbarrows full of money being carted into the house of the richest guy in town.

As an added incentive to make me feel American I was told to run right out and spend that money. Yeah, that's right. Fucking country has a negative net savings amount per family but, shit, who cares? I mean, I needed a new....geez, I clean forgot what we did with that $800. I know we didn't pay any fucking bills with it, fuck no. Pissed it away right proper, we did, the good old American way.

So don't bother making comparisons to the 18 1/2 minute gap in Nixon's tapes and the missing e-mails. Everyone knows the internets are mysterious pipes and tubes with all kinds of twisty turns. Any kid who's watched Timmy Turner on The Fairly Odd-Parents" as he surfs along the screen can tell you that. I'm sure there are enough technologically-challenged members of Congress in both houses that Rove and Company figured this would skip right past them.

And the Republican staffers on the hill who do know that anything can be retrieved off a hard drive or a server by a good forensics technician will just lie to their member of congress telling him or her to stand up to the Democrats, they're just on a witch hunt. I mean, you know what happens when you delete that e-mail from your favorite grandkid, right? You can't get it back for anything.

Tell that to the guy doing 5 years for having kiddie porn on his computer that he was sure he had deleted. But we can't count on the FBI to retrieve a few million e-mail messages. Instead we have to worry that the guy in charge of the FBI as in the Attorney General is busy telling people how to FBI-proof their files and servers.

According to the USA PATRIOT Act, internet service providers are supposed to archive all actions taken by their clients and keep them handy for government perusal. I don't recall reading anything in the act (and yes, unfortunately, I have no life and have read it through once) that gives the people who provide internet service to the Republican National Committee a pass on the archiving requirement.

Fuck Monica Goodling. Make her get her lying Christian ass up to Congress where she can be asked a question and then refuse to answer it the good old-fashioned way. Then offer her limited immunity. She just decided she wasn't going to show up?? Hello, contempt of Congress?? Aren't any of you bastards lawyers?

It's a fucking shame that it was easier to get rid of Don Imus than it is to get rid of the thief-in-chief and his production crew.

But no tears for Don. Now I don't have to explain to my daughter with Tourette's Syndrome what his side-kick McCord means when he blames Tourette's for Imus's outbursts.

I'm glad you're gone, Don. Let's see how long your ho sticks around now.

Giuliani is an asshole

Rudy Giuliani is trying to sound all scholarly and lawyer-like in reference to Bush's stance against the Democrats in congress as it relates to the funding for the war.

Rudy says that yesterday he was actually reading the constitution (Oh My!!) and that while congress has the power to declare war and to control the purse, as it were, the president has sole authority as to how the war is conducted.

Oh really, Rudy? Did you miss that part in Article 1, section 8 that gives to congress, among other things, "....the power to declare war....and make rules concerning captures on land and water; to make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces; to provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States" (like the National Guard units your emperor has dispatched to Iraq in the absence of a formal declaration of war by the congress, I might add).

I understand you right wing assholes don't like reading Article 1 because it kind of undermines your unitary theory of the executive, that shit-for-brains theory espoused by John Yoo, who probably had it whispered in his ear by his handler, Rev, Sun Myung Moon, formerly of the Korean CIA, currently messiah in waiting for the whole world, as proclaImed in his coronation ceremony right there in congress itself. Funny, the Democrats couldn't get a room to hold hearings that pertained to the destruction of our constitution by the idiot-in-chief, but a Korean theocrat not only got a room, but received a crown and obeisances from members of congress. It probably helped his cause that he gives Dubya's daddy huge amounts of money to pimp for him around the world. So much for worshipping false gods, eh?

Look, I hate reading Ann Coulter's shit about as much as you guys dislike reading the parts of the constitution that rein in your megalomania, but I force myself to do it because I'm interested in abnormal psychology and I figure if I run into a right wing whore sometime in a bar, maybe some of Annie's more crazed written shit will get me laid. Whatever it takes, ya know?

Anyway. Rudy, get a grip, man. You're not going to be the president. Cops in New York hate you for locking up cops and wiring them so you could lock up more cops (remember Winters and Magno?). Firefighters hate you because, well, because you are a dick, a huge dick, and that is not a compliment. All city workers who ever had to deny their kids a special Christmas gift hate you because of the bad faith you brought to the bargaining table when purportedly negotiating labor agreements. While you gave Christine Latugano huge raises, the rest of us got nothing, nothing man. Now, I realize none of us offered to blow you, but still.....

We did bring down the crime numbers for you. We made the streets safer. We made New York more liveable. And what did we get? Dick.

We got Dick and you have profited from the horror that was 9/11.

Now you think you are going to ride that fuckin' tragedy right into the White House. Well, think again, douchebag. Go back to your doggie-torturing wife and cry on her shoulder.

You aren't a New Yorker, Rudy. You're a fucking parasite feeding off of our common tragedy.

In the immortal words of Dick Cheney, go fuck yourself.

So dig this....

Caesar sends the Roman army across the Rubicon, a small river in northern Italy, which was the equivalent of the DMZ in Korea...the Roman army was forbidden to cross this river to keep the city and government free from force and intimidation.

Once the army had crossed the line, of course, there was no turning back. Caesar demanded to take control of the government and the senate was cowed into acquiescing to his wishes.

Sound familiar?

This was not enough for Caesar...arrogant people used to getting their own way never have enough. As Caesar prepared for yet another campaign to stretch the reach of an already over-extended empire, the senate finally got some balls and decided something had to be done about this event which they felt would damage the very essence of Rome.

On the Ides of March, 44 BCE, two senators approached Caesar and killed him before he could embark on his last campaign.

Where was Caesar planning to invade when he was killed?

Mesopotamia.

Iraq.

Where are our senators when we need them?

Raising money for their own selfish campaigns to extend their own arrogant and hubristic careers.

We already know where our Benedict Arnolds are....

Where is our Brutus?

Bernie Kerik

Let's see what we can say about Bernie Kerik.

Total ass-kisser who connived himself into powerful positions from which he could enrich himself.

Completely unqualified for every job he had, with the exception of his enry-level civil service job which he used as a launching pad for his short-lived upward trajectory.

Sent to Iraq by the Bush adminisration for two purposes: To collect his own shopping bag full of stolen Treasury cash and to open up secret Swiss accounts for thieves in the administration who couldn't get out of the country.

Those are the only reasons i can see for him being in Iraq. It certainly wasn't because the man had any relevant experience...he was a sycophant.

The most one can hope for Bernie is that he comes down with some respiratory illness related to the poisons that were in the air during his grandstanding with Rudy the Backstabber during the post-9/11 victory laps they took around Ground Zero. So many cops and firefighters are suffering from the effects of the poison air, air that Christie Todd Whitman, that GOP whore who led the EPA, assured people was safe and free from contaminants.

Leave aside for the moment the fact that anyone in their right mind should have known there were airborne particles of asbestos floating around down there and other toxins resulting from the burning metals and plastics that comprised the planes and the buildings they hit (it is a well-known fact that dioxin is an end product of burning plastic), the federal agency responsible for ensuring the safety of the air we breathe owed the first responders and the media people and others down there a bit more of a duty to see to their safety than the lies fed by Whitman and her little servants.

Come to think of it, maybe I can extend this wish to George W. Bush himself. His sorry ass was down there posturing in front of firefighters (who he would later shortchange), making one of his earliest tough guy speeches. George, I truly hope that a little fleck of asbestos became embedded in your lungs and that you develop a nice case of mesothelioma so that you can endure a little hell on earth before going on to eternal damnation for the sins you have committed against the people of the United States and the people you are responsible for killing in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Strange bedfellows

It's being reported in today's WaPo that Republicans are coming to the defense of Representative William Jefferson (D-LA) whose office was raided by the FBI last year looking for criminal evidence in a bribery investigation.

People like Newt Gingrich are coming to the defense of Jefferson stating that the raid by agents of the FBI, a branch of the Justice Department, an agency of the Executive Branch, violated separation of powers because Jefferson's office within the capitol building should be free from intrusions by the executive branch.

Kind of an interesting argument given that the little emperor is refusing to allow his aides to testify under oath in front of congress because it would violate "executive privilege." How does this position square with the claims of Jefferson and the GOP supporters who say that congress should be off-limits to searches by agents of the executive branch?

Novel argument I would think to be used against the president's counsel, Fred Fielding, counsel for every Republican president who has ever found himself in trouble since Richard Nixon.

This is like "Don't do as I do, do as I say."

Is It Really the Brits?

I saw South Park this past week, an episode spoofing the Fox show 24.

A Muslim boy moves into town and Eric Cartman automatically assumes the boy and his family are terrorists.
A visit to the town by Hillary Clinton results in a terrorist incident but at the end of the show the real terrorists, the ones who have been subverting America all along, are revealed to be the British in the person of the Queen. When the plot is neutralized, the Queen shoots herself in the head.

I remember reading somewhere, maybe Skolnick's Report, that the British royal family has ties to the Bush family, all that once or twice removed nonsense. He talks about the betrayal of America by the Bush family and shows cancelled checks deposited in a European bank account controlled by the royals as evidence that there is a sinister connection between America's premiere crime family and the inbred loonies on the British throne.

As odd as this sounds I am of the opinion that someone other than the idiot-in-chief and his crew are responsible for the goings-on that are contributing to the death of the American republic.

This doesn't just apply to Bush or to Republicans. The Clinton-Gore administration gave the OK to the destruction of old growth forest in the US in addition to allowing industry groups to write regulations; George W. Bush is not the first president to allow industry to call the tune.

Clinton-Gore pushed through NAFTA which significantly weakened the power of labor in the US and that administration was in power when the WTO, a completely illegal organization which trumps national sovereignty in trade matters, was brought into being.

Clinton-Gore also did what no GOP administration would have been allowed to get away with....the total destruction of the welfare system which was the last bit of protection on the social safety net protecting poor people in this couintry. Once that was done away with, it was easy for the Bushies to come into power to finish the job.

The 2000 presidential election was stolen. The Supreme Court committed an outrageously unconstitutional act by declaring that a recount in Florida should stop because if it continuted, George W. Bush would not become president. That's what the opinion said, in a nutshell. An egregious meddling in the electoral process by the branch of government that has no place in elections. A disputed election is supposed to be decided by the House of Representatives, not the judiciary. But even with a GOP majority in the House, Bush's people couldn't take the chance that he would not actually be installed. They had an agenda and it was imperative that Bush be made president.

Once again the American people witnessed a coup d'etat and once again they did nothing about it.

George W. Bush was put in place to accomplish three things. First, he had to hide the criminality of the previous Republican administrations, those of Reagan and his father. He accomplished this by eviscerating the Presidential Records Act of 1978 by issuing an executive order barring the release of records of presidents or vice presidents without the approval of the current president or the families of those who would be affected by the release. Second, the military-industrial complex was eager for the money that Clinton had managed to accrue in the federal treasury by his judicious fiscal moves. That surplus had the thieves and con men of the GOP drooling over it. What better way than to start a war in the Middle East killing two birds with one stone: removing Saddam Hussein from power and securing the oil reserves controlled by Iraq. The last thing Bush had to accomplish was the enslavement of the middle class.

The social safety net was already shredded by Clinton-Gore with the attack on welfare. Now the GOP went after the middle class by attacking the bankruptcy laws. In the same way that Reagan portrayed women on welfare as Cadillac-driving liars, Bush and the GOP portrayed people who took advantage of the bankruptcy laws as thieves and liars who intentionally spent to the limit on their credit cards just so they could later declare bankruptcy. Never mind that many of the people who were in financial trouble were in that situation because they had used their credit cards to pay for increasingly expensive medical care which many families were faced with when the main wage earner lost his or her job.

With the help of traitorous Democrats like Joe Biden, the GOP was able to completely overhaul the bankruptcy code in such a way that credit card companies became secured creditors who would be among the first claimants to be paid off if the people who actually were allowed to declare bankruptcy received any relief.

Now middle class people were confronted with the prospect of a government that, on the one hand, in the wake of the horrific attacks on 9/11, encouraged everyone to forget their troubles and go shopping and then, on the other hand, refused to come to the aid of people who were stretched beyond their limits and had no place else to turn.

To understand why this happened you have to understand the psychology of the thieves who are in power in Washington, DC.

Look at the scandals that have surfaced in the past 27 years, roughly the same time period that the Republicans have held the White House except for the Clinton-Gore interregnum. The Nugan Hand bank run by ex-CIA and armed forces people; the savings and loan debacle; Iran-Contra with its back channel financing controlled by the office of the vice president through a cut-out, Ollie North; BCCI, the Outlaw Bank.

These scandals cost the American taxpayer in terms of bailout money for the institutions affected. Every American family was made to pay for the excesses of the S&L fiasco although the people who perpetrated the crimes never paid anywhere near what they had stolen if they paid anything at all. Two of George H. W. Bush's sons were involved in that little ripoff. Members of congress were aware of what was going on but never stopped taking money long enough to do aything about it until it was too late. John McCain was a member in good standing in the Keating Five, a group of lawmakers who accepted money from Charles Keating in return for looking the other way while he and his buddies looted the treasury.

These people don't think twice about allowing their friends or political cronies to steal really large amounts of money as long as they get their cut. For them to empathize with some shmo who's going to have his house foreclosed on because he can't make the payments or who's going to lose everything he's worked so hard for because he's like everyone else in this insane consumer-driven rat race and he's maxxed out his credit cards trying to keep food on his table and clothes on his family would be like having to sit at a table in a restaurant to calculate the tip when the meal has cost way more than he thought it would and he can barely pay that.

They cannot do it. These people are so used to living the high life that they forget where they came from, unless, of course, they either came from money or were corrupted early on and have always had the way paid for them.

They do not understand that bills need to be paid, that the faucet doesn't always piss out dollars, that when you are trying to provide for a family deficit spending only goes so far. When you're a guy trying to provide for your family you can't get your creditors together and ask them to vote to extend the amount that you're allowed to be in the hole for like the congress can do when it wants to extend the debt ceiling. For the average American the debt ceiling is already pushing down on him and his family and it isn't letting up.

The pressures of just making ends meet in this society have so far ensured that many Americans are not aware of what these criminals have pulled off for the past 27 years. Clinton is not to be excused for his part in this. He was only allowed to become president (and if you've been paying attention to the election machine scandals you'll know that allowed is the only word that works here) because the GOP could not get away with killing welfare. A pseudo-populist Democrat was needed for that.

Just as if a Democrat wins the White House in 2008 with a Democratic majority in congress Social Security and Medicare will be the targets of "much needed reform." When you hear those words uttered shortly after the 2008 elections start packing and stock up on non-perishable items. Middle class Americans are going to become survivalists whether they like it or not.

More and more.....

it becomes evident that there are better things to do than sit here and read about the latest criminality coming out of this administration of criminals.

There are more important things to be reading about maybe even some fiction that would provide a nice diversion from the endless list of criminal acts being committed daily which are ignored by a captive media and a portion of the American people who will be the first to cry when they realize that it was their own indiffernce and inaction that led to the end of our democracy.

Time to re-read Plutarch, Livy, and Herodotus. The actions going on will seem familiar, the wars will be there and the intrigue surrounding greedy men who aren't satisfied with more than most people around them have, and the ending will be known.

What will be different this time around is that the ending has changed somewhat. In first reading these books it was possible to look into them and see how those who came after them learned lessons from them and crafted successive governments to avoid the pitfalls that seem to always be in the way of good governments made up of mere mortals. Now, looking forward from this place in time, into the sixth year of an imperial presidency that seems hell-bent on global war for as long into the future as possible, the ending has been modified. There is no longer the secure feeling that we have gotten it right more than others before us.

In its place is a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that perhaps we got it more wrong than any others. We have the evidence of Nero at hand to study. We have the recent history of the rise of Mussolini and the fascists of Europe to pore over, yet we let a little tin make-believe soldier and his coterie of thieves run rampant on the rest of the world, tarnishing our reputation as a country and removing whatever claim we might have once held to moral authority.

It came out in the news yesterday that the United States is helping Somalia to disappear people.

This is the democracy we are exporting to the rest of the world.
